Mikia Brown
Compassionate. Encouraging. Always in your corner. Mikia has never believed People & Culture is about policies or procedures. It's about people…their stories, their potential, and helping them become the very best version of themselves.
Funny enough, hospitality wasn't part of the plan. Like so many in this industry, it found her. As a young mother searching for a schedule that fit her family, Mikia accepted a Night Auditor position, unknowingly beginning a journey that would shape not only her career, but the careers of countless others.
"PEOPLE DON'T ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT YOU SAID. THEY REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL."
From the front desk to Human Resources and eventually leading People & Culture, Mikia discovered what she was truly meant to do: invest in people. Whether she's mentoring a first-time leader, celebrating someone's biggest milestone, or simply taking time to listen, she believes everyone deserves someone who sees what they're capable of.
As Vice President of People & Culture, Mikia helps shape the heart of Makeready. She believes exceptional hospitality starts behind the scenes, with teams who feel supported, empowered, and inspired to grow. Creating that kind of environment isn't a program or initiative, it's a commitment she brings to work every day.
"WHEN PEOPLE FEEL THEY BELONG, AMAZING THINGS HAPPEN."
Relationships have always been Mikia's superpower. She has a way of making people feel comfortable, valued, and understood, whether they're joining their very first hotel team or leading one of our properties. To her, every conversation is an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen connection, and remind someone they matter.
Away from work, Mikia treasures the people she shares life with most. Time with family, friends, and a house full of four-legged companions keeps her grounded and serves as a reminder that life's greatest moments are built through connection.
Because for Mikia, culture isn't something you write on a wall. It's something you create together. One relationship, one conversation, and one act of kindness at a time.
