Mikia Brown

Mikia’s career in hospitality started like so many in this industry; it found her. She was a young mother looking for an alternative work schedule, which is how she found herself working as a Night Auditor at the Hilton Nashville Downtown. She spent the next several years working her way to a leadership role in the Front Office. After, she tried her hand at Catering, then as an Executive Assistant and landed in Human Resources which was exactly where she belongs.

Mikia joined Castlerock Asset Management where she opened The Westin Nashville, Bobby Hotel, and later transitioned The Westin Tampa Bay serving as an Area Director of Human Resources for all three properties. Once you get to know Mikia, you’ll recognize that one of the most meaningful impacts she makes is building relationships. Whether it’s helping an hourly team member enroll in ADP, mentoring a leader on soft skills, or introducing other HR Directors so that there is a network of professionals, you’ll find her helping.

Early in 2021, it was time for Mikia to try something new, which happened to be a total change of pace and purpose. She joined the 1 Hotel Nashville opening team and quickly put processes and procedures into place. Mikia and her husband, Mark, were ready for an adventure. Both Native Nashvillians, they packed up their pups, Mark’s mom, Debra, and headed to Dallas. Mikia is excited to continue helping professionals grow in their approach to leadership, assist Dan in process and system enhancement, and be additional support for People + Culture in the field.
