If you’re heading to New York City, call Deirdre first. A Long Island native, pro traveler and professed Big Apple lover, you can bet she’ll happily assemble an itinerary like no other. One thing she loves, be it for herself or others, is a good plan.

Growing up the daughter of a home builder and interior designer, Deirdre was surrounded by artistic vision. Stacks of art books and floor plans lined her childhood home. Her comfort level with opening new hotels is something she credits to having watched many a blank slate become a polished, beautiful thing.

On top of that, starting at a young age, her parents sent her to spend summers with family in Florida, Texas and California. A hunger for travel has stuck with her ever since. When she’s not reveling in all things NYC, she’s off getting to know the people, flavors and culture of new places.

Alongside being her passion, travel is Deirdre’s career. She spent two decades in hotel sales, city-hopping. Along the way, she honed a deep empathy for all warriors of road and sky.

“FOR 20 YEARS, I’VE FOCUSED ON THE NEEDS OF TRAVELERS. I KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE DELAYED AND SLEEP IN AIRPORTS. I KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO HAVE THE SCREAMING BABY ON A FLIGHT THAT’S STUCK ON THE TARMAC. I KNOW HOW A GUEST FEELS WHEN THEY SHOW UP TO A FRONT DESK EXHAUSTED, WANTING A COMFY BED, YET EXCITED TO EXPLORE.”

In other words, Deirdre is the perfect person to help share both the Makeready story, and the stories of rest, adventure and everything in between that each of our properties offers. Be it through marketing, PR or positioning, she knows how to connect with people. Whether they’re seeking respite, an escapade, or a little of each, she views each person as having a story of their own.

“THE MOM IN ME SEES THE GOOD IN EVERYONE, AND WANTS EVERYONE TO GROW, LEARN, AND BE HAPPY.”

On her days of rest, you’ll find Deirdre growing her bond with friends and family, possibly cooking an impromptu feast for all of them, her two daughters included. Or, if the house is quiet, you may find her outside, hands in the soil, cultivating joy in the form of hostas and hydrangeas.

With all the journeys both behind and ahead of Deirdre, we’re grateful she found her way to us, and to helping us grow in all that we do.
